Job Description

Rincon Consultants is seeking a **Wetland Scientist/Assistant Project Manager** to support our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys fieldwork, collaboration, and task management. You'll work on diverse projects across sectors such as **utilities, energy, water, and transportation** . While this role may offer flexible work arrangements that can include a mix of in-office and remote work, our changing business needs will ultimately determine our level of remote-work flexibility. Additionally, to promote in-person collaboration and client teaming, we prioritize hiring those who reside within 50 miles of a Rincon office which currently includes: Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. The ideal candidate would be located within 50 miles of our **Oakland, Monterey, or Sacramento** offices. **Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:** + Prepare and oversee high-quality deliverables, including: + Biological Resource Assessments (BRA) + CEQA/NEPA biological sections + Jurisdictional delineations and permit applications + Conduct or manage fieldwork, such as wetland delineations, special-status species surveys (including CA tiger salamander), and CRAM assessments. + Support permitting strategies and regulatory compliance for complex, multi-agency projects, including adherence to the Clean Water Act, ESA, CESA, and Coastal Act. + Lead or support small- to moderate-size biological assessment and permitting projects. + Uphold QA/QC processes and ensure technical excellence across all work products. + Collaborate with technical teams to ensure efficient project execution. **This Job Might Be for You If You Have the Following:** + B.S. or M.S. in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field. + **3-6+ years of experience** in environmental consulting, with progressive responsibility across technical work and project management. Demonstrated experience with: + Wetland delineations, CRAM, and habitat management + Botanical and/or wildlife species surveys + Strong written and verbal communication skills, including client and agency interaction + Surveying, monitoring, and assessing habitats for California tiger salamander Preferred experience: + Regulatory permitting and compliance + Biological resource assessments (CEQA/NEPA) Rincon Consultants is an award-winning leader in providing quality environmental consulting services throughout California and is recognized as a 'Best Environmental Services Firm to Work For' by the Zweig Group. The base salary range for this full-time position is $72,500-$104,000, plus a generous benefits program. The base pay that is actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
