The Preschool Teacher s responsible for creating a loving, faith-filled, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. This role supports early childhood development in alignment with Catholic values, preparing students spiritually, emotionally, socially, and academically for kindergarten and beyond.
Model and integrate Catholic faith and values in daily interactions, prayer, lessons, and classroom routines.
Support the spiritual growth of children through age-appropriate prayer, Bible stories, and participation in school religious activities.
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons that foster growth in literacy, math, science, art, motor skills, and social-emotional development.
Use a structured yet flexible curriculum aligned with diocesan and early childhood education standards.
Encourage exploration, creativity, and hands-on learning through play-based and teacher-directed activities.
Create a nurturing, safe, and respectful classroom environment grounded in Christian principles.
Establish routines and expectations that promote positive behavior and a sense of community.
Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
Document developmental milestones, observations, and assessments.
Collaborate with aides, fellow teachers, and administrators on lesson planning, school events, and professional development.
State certification in Early Childhood Education (if required by state or diocese).
Practicing Catholic (preferred) or committed to the values and mission of Catholic education.
Prior experience teaching preschool-aged children (preferred).
Completion of Safe Environment Training and background check (required).
CPR/First Aid certification (may be required or preferred).
