Part Time On-Call
Position pays $21.10 per hour plus gratuity

The San Diego Convention Center is located on sparkling San Diego Bay in the heart of a vibrant downtown. Abundant, flexible space and five-star service make the San Diego Convention Center the meeting planner's choice for hosting major conventions, trade shows, meetings and special events. The San Diego Convention Center has 2.6 million sq. ft. to include 72 meeting/banquet rooms, eight exhibit halls, two ballrooms and a special events area - the Sails Pavilion, 138-seat capacity onsite restaurant and 36-seat bar, 8 concession stands in exhibit halls, 2 full-service kitchens, portable specialty services and 3 Starbucks lobby operations. Some of the many types of events offered at the San Diego Convention Center include the annual Comic Con and ESRI shows, full service plated dinners and buffet & reception events.

We are currently seeking Starbucks Barista at the San Diego Convention Center.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Greet all guests with a friendly smile; Honor guests by providing quick, friendly, and
  personalized service.
• Initiate dialogue and develop rapport with guests by learning their names and favorite food and
  drink items.
• Educate guests regarding menu offerings; Initiate suggestive selling and sampling of products.
• Communicate guest comments to manager on duty, in a timely manner.
• Adhere to all Company recipes and measurements; Provide top quality espresso shots for hot
  and cold beverages, Produce superior product presentation in a consistent manner.
• Sell and serve baked goods and miscellaneous food items to guests.
• Accurately processes transactions through the POS and correctly count back change to
  guests.
• Follows all cash management policies and procedures to ensure accountability of company
  funds.
• Maintains continuous communication with other staff functions (i.e. coffee bar, register etc.)
  during peak business times.

Job Requirements:

• Previous Barista experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to participate in a team environment.
• Ability to follow written and oral direction.
• Ability to work under pressure and independently.

Preferred:

• Ability to communicate in the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

Other requirements:

• Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to work in extremes of cold to heat.
• Must be able to exert well-paced mobility to maneuver quickly among different areas of the facility.
