Sr. Red Hat Linux Admin Consultant

Description:

The Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator will manage and optimize the AOC’s Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments, ensuring system stability, security, and performance while supporting a range of enterprise applications.

Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and maintaining RHEL servers across development, testing, and production environments; performing system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening; monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues; implementing automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, or Python; configuring and maintaining Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management, and other RHEL tools; collaborating with security teams; maintaining and optimizing storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions; supporting application teams; maintaining documentation; providing on-call support; setting up NFS and mount points; and configuring Cron jobs for systems and applications.

Requirements:

Knowledge of recovery and networking methodologies, and ability to troubleshoot at the OS, database, and application levels. Expertise in Red Hat administration including configuration and tuning, recovery, disaster recovery, application development, Red Hat support, and electronic imaging support.

Ability to work in a team, communicate effectively, demonstrate leadership, interface with users and helpdesk, and provide backup for OpenEdge, Apache Web Servers, vSphere hosted RHEL Servers, Rubrik backup systems, Oracle Database backups, PeopleSoft, Mobius, Elasticsearch, Oracle OBI, and CVS.

Experience with Red Hat performance tuning, load balancing, partitioning, and backup.

Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate degree in engineering, computer science, or related field.

Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator with a valid certification number issued by Red Hat.

Preferred qualifications: Ten or more years as a Red Hat system administrator, ten or more years administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems, and fifteen or more years in IT.

Experience with complex networked environments, Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems, and administering applications such as Oracle WebLogic Servers, Oracle Database Servers, and Progress 4GL.
