Imagine a role where you can champion the rights and interests of over 16,500 Delta pilots, providing expert counsel and strategic leadership. As a Senior Labor Relations Counsel, you'll be at the forefront of aviation labor law, tackling complex issues and driving impactful outcomes.
What You'll Be Doing:
Provide Strategic Counsel: Offer expert legal advice to pilot governing bodies and individual members on all employment-related matters.
Navigate Complex Negotiations: Lead and coordinate all phases of collective bargaining agreements.
Ensure Contract Compliance: Monitor and administer labor contracts, ensuring adherence to terms and conditions.
Represent Pilots in FAA Actions: Manage Federal Aviation Administration actions against individual pilots.
Analyze NTSB Hearings: Prepare detailed summaries of National Transportation Safety Board Accident/Incident hearings.
Manage Complex Cases: Handle all aspects of case management, ensuring effective representation.
Lead National Projects: Contribute to national projects in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
Build Strong Relationships: Actively listen, build trust, and adapt your communication style to connect with diverse audiences.
Respond to Critical Inquiries: Be available to respond to time-sensitive and critical inquiries, including safety-related emergencies.
Develop Strategic Recommendations: Working with other departments, make recommendations regarding strategy and actions.

What We're Looking For:
Legal Education: Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Law (LLM), or similar advanced degree from an approved law school.
Bar Membership: Member in good standing of the Bar.
Extensive Labor Law Experience: Fifteen (15) years of related experience in labor law and litigation (twenty (20) or more years strongly preferred).
Aviation/Labor Law Experience: Aviation and/or labor law experience is highly preferred.
Negotiation Expertise: Significant and in-depth labor negotiation experience.
Collective Bargaining Experience: Experience in collective bargaining and grievance arbitration.
Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think strategically and organize tactics for long-term objectives.
Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Judgment and Problem-Solving: Ability to make decisions under pressure.
Knowledge of Aviation Law: Knowledge of the Railway Labor Act (RLA) and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) is preferred.
Organizational Skills: Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate mid- and long-term endeavors.
Legal Research Skills: Experience using online legal research tools like Westlaw.
Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Physical Demands:
Ability to operate computer and mobile devices.
Ability to move within an office and travel.
Ability to lift and move up to 10 lbs regularly, and up to 50 lbs while traveling.
Compensation:
Projected annual salary range: $153,557.00 - $219,367.00.
