Position Information: UC Riverside's Transportation and Parking Services is recruiting for Senior Parking Representative, Enforcement. The full salary range for the Senior Parking Representative, Enforcement is $21.50 - $30.11 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. The successful applicant will work each shift during the training period and the long-term shift assignment will be Monday - Friday, 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm, and may include weekend and event overtime coverage as needed.
Under general direction, the Senior Parking Representative performs the most difficult public contact functions at kiosks, information booths, and parking lots and patrols campus parking facilities to ensure compliance with parking rules and regulations, accessibility standards, and safety protocols.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Experience Requirements - 6 months related working experience, preferably in communicating with the public providing information and instruction.

- Employment and/or continued employment is contingent on a satisfactory background check. Must possess or obtain a Valid CA Drivers License in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Must participate in the campus DMV pull system.

- Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations (addition; subtraction; multiplication; division). Ability to follow verbal and written communications and instructions in English. Ability to understand, interpret and follow safety policies and rules.
- Ability to draft accurate and descriptive daily logs and reports, to write neatly, and to accurately and concisely compose and key enter citations which include such information as time, place, direction, vehicle description, permit status and the specific compliance process undertaken.
- Demonstrated verbal communication skills to communicate with customers using appropriate tone of voice, vocabulary, and clarity of expression. Ability to interact respectfully with a diverse public. Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and confidentiality. Ability to exercise sound judgement and remain calm during emergencies. Ability to interpret parking policies and enforce them equitably.
- Ability to meet deadlines and deliver services on time as promised. Ability to work successfully as part of a team. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and organizational skills. Demonstrated time management skills; ability to use time correctly and professionally within University policy while keeping departmental goals and objectives in mind.
- Ability to communicate with ordinary dispatch communications received over a 2-way radio and to learn and use appropriate radio-code language. Ability to use computers, hand-held electronic devices and automated tracking systems used in capturing, retrieving and transmitting parking, vehicle and citation data.
- Physical requirements: ability to walk and stand for various durations, up to a full 8 hour shift, walking over uneven surfaces, around moving and parked vehicles, and hilly terrain. Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, squat and sit; ability to lift and carry objects such as parking barricades, cones and immobilization devices weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Environmental requirements: ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time in extreme and inclement weather conditions ranging from high heat with humidity, to freezing, rainy, windy and/or dusty conditions. Ability to work in conditions with excessive noise due to campus community activities and events. Ability to safely work around moving vehicles, machinery and/or equipment. Preferred Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities DescriptionPercent Time - Campus Ambassador: Be a friendly face to the campus community by assisting in creating a welcoming environment and educating parking users about how to use parking facilities without violating campus policies, rules, and regulations; maintains current knowledge of information needed to answer questions or providing appropriate referrals to resources including topics such as building and parking lot locations, parking rules and regulations, citation appeal procedures and current construction projects; have a knowledge of events being held on campus, locations and times that have special parking arrangements.

- Unit-Specific Operations: When assigned to Enforcement operations, works under the Enforcement Manager to address, immobilize, and/or impound vehicles found in violation of specific California Vehicle Codes and UCR Parking Rules and Regulations. When assigned to Event Parking operations, works under the Events Manager to assist in the execution of special events parking arrangements for on campus and off campus community members.

- Parking Permitting and Enforcement: Follow policies and procedures regarding the campus permitting structure and citation issuance; issue parking permits to campus visitors and/or parking citations and warnings to vehicles violating the California Vehicle Code and University of California Riverside parking rules and regulations using a computerized, hand-held device in accordance with department policies and procedures.

- Traffic and Circulation: Directs vehicular and pedestrian traffic as assigned or necessary at campus intersections; maintains and secures campus safety bollards leading to the inner campus; checks and moves, if necessary, temporary traffic control devices such as barricades, cones, and directional signage that are placed blocking bike lanes or in ADA path of travel.

- Department Support: Provides operational support for Transportation & Parking Services and Fleet Services which may include some of the following functions: participates in the development and implementation of the department's mission, goals, and strategic planning; assists in the review of operations and services to identify operational efficiencies and integrate 'best practices'; coordinates and/or participates in special projects and assignments, the scope of which may extend beyond day-to-day operations.

- Field Operations: Assists in the collection of money from kiosk and/or event parking permit sales; may troubleshoot parking self-service parking dispensers; assists in the completion of campus surveys including parking lot utilization, pedestrian or vehicle accessibility, or other environmental conditions

- Safety and Security: Be available to respond to campus emergencies; may escort external emergency responder vehicles to on-campus destinations; reports suspicious vehicles or people to the supervisor or University of California Police Department (UCPD); reports hazards to the supervisor, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), Physical Plant or UCPD as appropriate; removes debris, litter or unapproved or abandoned signage.

- Motorist Assistance: Provides emergency key lock outs and battery jump-starts to individuals parked on campus; assists stranded drivers in the delivery of vehicle fuel; assists campus permit holders in finding their vehicles on campus and directing customers to available parking when their assigned lots fill.
