Job Description

MINIMUM 1 YEAR OF RECENT MECHANICAL AND MACHINING EXPERIENCE

Connect staffing is hiring a skilled Research & Development Technician to process and test equipment for a drilling company in the city of Houston, TX.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 5:00PM - 5:30 AM

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of recent mechanical and machining experience.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or one to two years related machining experience and/or training, and one to two years related mechanical testing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Operational and Machining skills
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to accurately document data
  • Must have a safety and quality mindset.
  • Ability to efficiently manage time, and organize
  • Occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
  • Frequently required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls

Responsibilities:

  • Safely and consistently operates dynamic mechanical tests apparatuses (“mini-dynos”)
  • Organizes and records processing and testing data and assists with written reports.
  • Recognizes abnormalities in dynamic mechanical test apparatus results and suggests alternatives based on experience.
  • Proactively works to improve consistency of test results.
  • Responsible for maintaining a neat, clean and orderly work area.
  • Ensure all personal protection equipment is monitored and used at all times.
  • Machine parts as necessary for operating dynamic mechanical test apparatus.
  • Assembly and disassembly of dynamic mechanical test apparatus as required.
  • Perform stator heat tests, and other miscellaneous tests as needed to support new compound development and stator sizing specifications.
  • Perform preparation of laboratory samples such as adhesive coupons, tensile bars, and swell buttons for laboratory testing.
  • Any other duties of a similar or lesser nature as required.
  • Properly uses and cares for equipment.
  • Supports "team" concept of getting the job done. 
  • Performs other duties as directed or required.
