The Experimental High Energy Physics group at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York (UB) invites applications for two postdoctoral research associate positions to work on the CMS experiment at LHC.
The CMS group at UB comprises five faculty (Professors Iashvili, Kharchilava, McLean, Rappoccio, and Yu) and a number of postdoctoral researchers and graduate students. The group is involved in many aspects of the CMS experiment, including operations and upgrades of the pixel detector and calorimeters, jet reconstruction and calibration, and developments for the particle flow algorithm for the HL-LHC, as well as detector developments for future colliders. The group has diverse physics interests, including QCD and electroweak measurements, Higgs physics, and searches for beyond-the-standard-model physics.
Candidates should have a strong record or interest in data analysis, experimental operations, and/or hardware development. The successful candidate will have the ability to work in a collaborative environment, to communicate scientific results, and to develop an independent research program. A Ph.D in experimental physics or a related field is required by the time of appointment. The position can be based at CERN or Fermilab.
