Job Description

My business partner and I started Mission Recruiting back in 2013 after being with a huge retained recruiting firm for close to a decade.

Quick note: We labeled this job in Houston, but it is fully remote. Unfortunately, we cannot hire in CA as CA hates businesses. We love Texans, though, so if you live in Texas, please apply. 

The last few years have been great in that we’ve grown our client base and expanded our offerings as a firm.

But the last few years have also been some of the hardest we’ve experienced. Part of the challenge of running a business is the ability to pivot and change with the times. Until recently, we have been stuck in an older recruiting approach and had not been able to pivot.

We have not been perfect at running this business. We have made a commitment to get better. We have recently undergone some major changes to improve the quality of work here at Mission Recruiting.

Here is what we were doing wrong:

In the recent past, we were too system-driven. We had a hyper-granular process because we felt that checking every box gave our people the best shot for success. But of course, that system was hard to learn and it overwhelmed people. New people struggled to learn an overly-complex system. Our recruiters spent too much time filling in boxes and moving candidates through too many stages.

We were too caught up in micro-metrics. Of course, you have to call people to recruit, but we were too focused on dials and micros rather than what is the most important thing: for our recruiters to build quality relationships with their candidates and their clients.

We were too caught up in process rather than focusing on results. And being out of sync with our people has cost us:

We lost a great recruiter who said our environment felt “heavy.” She wasn’t wrong.

We lost another recruiter who felt our KPIs were too high so that even when she had a good month, she still felt like she lost. That was tough to hear. She was right, also.

So here is what we’re offering now:

Want to just recruit? Okay. Want to work both sides (the sales side)? Okay, we’ll teach you that, too. We just upgraded our CRM/ATS to provide state-of-the-art business development workflows for you to not only recruit, but capture new business if you want to. Double-dip as they say.

Competitive draw and top commission rates. We’ve increased our commission packages by 56% for most roles. We’re offering top-of-the-industry commission packages (50-60% with requisite experience) for those who work both sides of the desk.
