EKG/EEG Tech-Cardiology-Per Diem- Varying Shift-Mount Sinai Queens

The (Per Diem) Cardioneuro Technician, under general supervision, prepares and operates an electroencephalograph (EEG) machine to measure and record brain waves and/or prepares and operates an electrocardiographs (EKG) machine to record the action of the heart muscles. Performs minor maintenance of equipment and insures an adequate inventory of available supplies.

Responsibilities
  • Reads order from physician and determine specific test requirements.  
  • Explains test procedures to patient to secure their cooperation and to relieve their anxiety about the test.                 
  • Positions patient and places electrodes/leads on appropriate parts of the body according to standard guidelines.
  • Takes recording of brain waves/heart muscle activity    
  • Record patient information, documents tracings, mounts tracing on patients charts and forwards to physician.   
  • Ensures electrical safety of the patient at all times, performs maintenance and minor repairs of the equipment for use, and reports major problems to the supervisor.            
  • Greets patients, visitors and answer telephone promptly and courteously.           
  • Maintains a safe, clean and functional work environment.           
  • Assists in the transport of patients and transfer of patients to the procedure table.          
  • Participates in conferences, technical meetings, and other educational activities when possible.

Qualifications
  • Education: Associates degree in electroneurodiagnostic technology, or Associate?s degree plus completion of such a course from an accredited college.
  • Experience: One year of experience in the operation of an EEG or EKG instrument.
  • License/Certification: Heartsaver Certification from American Heart Association; CPR certification prior to completion of EEG examination

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $25.96 - $25.96 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
