That's Nice, But What's the Job? We are seeking a Data (BI) Engineer to drive the development and optimization of our data transformation and modeling processes. This role is crucial in ensuring that raw data is transformed into trusted, well-structured, and analytics-ready datasets that empower decision-making across the organization.
As a Data Engineer, you will leverage Snowflake and dbt Core to build scalable data models, optimize query performance, and implement data quality best practices. You will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to design and maintain a robust ELT framework, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and governance in our data ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities - Develop and maintaindbt Coremodels to transform and structure raw data into clean, analytics-ready datasets in Snowflake.
- Design, implement, and optimize data models, ensuring they align with business reporting needs and best practices.
- Collaborate with data engineers to define and enhance ELT pipelines, ensuring efficient data ingestion and transformation.
- Use Python to automate data transformations, build quality checks, and optimize Snowflake performance.
- Monitor and improve query performance and cost efficiency within Snowflake.
- Implement data quality checks, testing frameworks, and documentation to ensure trust in reporting and analytics.
- Work closely with analysts and business teams to understand data needs and optimize models for self-service analytics.
- Support data governance initiatives, including metadata management and lineage tracking.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently, collaborate within a team, and engage cross-functionally.
Qualifications - 3+ years of experience in BI engineering, analytics engineering, and data modeling.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Extensive experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on designing and building scalable data pipelines and infrastructure.
- Proficiency in working with on-premises SQL Server, Kafka, Argo, SSIS, and Snowflake, along with a solid understanding of cloud-based data technologies.
- Strong programming skills in languages utilized for data engineering such as Python, SQL, Java, Scala with experience in scripting, automation, and data manipulation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with DBT core, Argo and Kafka is a plus
- Experience working with BI tools such as Sigma, Tableauis a plus.
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
