The Director will lead high-profile channels, relationships, and campaigns that elevate the Chartwells brand across social media, web, publications, and media outlets. Additionally, the Director will focus on streamlining communications processes, leveraging AI-driven tools for efficiency and innovation, and ensuring alignment across both internal and external communications.

Key Priorities

  1. Brand Voice & Storytelling – Ensure all external communications reflect a consistent, authentic, and compelling brand voice.
  2. Media & PR Leadership – Strengthen Chartwells’ reputation through proactive media engagement, thought leadership, and reputation management.
  3. Digital & Social Strategy – Maximize impact across social media, web platforms, and digital publications.
  4. Executive & Client-Facing Messaging – Craft high-impact content for leadership and client engagement.
  5. Crisis Communications – Lead external crisis communication efforts with speed, accuracy, and alignment to brand standards.
  6. Innovation & Growth – Streamline processes, introduce AI-enabled tools, and continuously evolve Chartwells’ communications approach.
  7. Internal Communications Leadership – Provide strategic direction for internal communications to ensure consistent, clear, and impactful messaging across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the external communications roadmap and budget, aligning projects, campaigns, and platform initiatives to brand strategy and business goals.
  • Lead crisis communications for external audiences, including drafting statements and guiding media responses.
  • Manage the relationship with the PR agency, creating press releases, seeking thought leadership opportunities, and elevating Chartwells’ voice in the industry.
  • Oversee company social media accounts — posting content, monitoring engagement, measuring performance, and managing the relationship with the social media publishing partner.
  • Host and organize client webinars that share insights, updates, and brand stories.
  • Identify and develop compelling stories and narratives for external channels.
  • Supervise the Communications Manager to ensure internal communications are aligned, efficient, and support associate engagement.
  • Own content and management of the brand website.
  • Streamline communication workflows and implement AI-powered tools to improve consistency, speed, and personalization across internal and external channels.
  • Stay informed on emerging communication innovations, and industry trends to proactively evolve strategies and platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 6+ years of communications experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in brand storytelling, media relations, and social/digital content strategy.
  • Experience managing and mentoring direct reports, with strong people leadership skills.
  • Outstanding written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills with professional presence in varied settings.
  • Innovative thinker with experience applying AI-driven tools.
  • Experience managing agencies and external vendors.
  • Ability to lead crisis communications with professionalism and discretion.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally and building relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs required including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook; graphic design experience a plus.
  • Some travel required (up to 25%).
