The Opportunity

Tetra Tech is adding a Civil Engineer, EIT to work in our Lexington office. The successful candidate for this position will provide engineering support for the water/wastewater group. Typical projects include a wide variety of municipal water/wastewater projects involving collection and conveyance systems, pump stations, storage and treatment facilities, and rehabilitation. This position is part of a team that specializes in the engineering of public water systems to upgrade aging infrastructure, provide sustainable solutions, and offer innovative approaches to help preserve safe and reliable water delivery.

Your Role

  • Perform in conceptual and detailed design and hydraulic calculations and analyses,
  • Assist in preparing detailed engineering reports, construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and supporting documents.
  • Prepare engineering reports,
  • Conduct research related to engineering policies and practices,
  • Develop or prepare descriptive charts, figures/maps, and tables/matrices,
  • Support cost-benefit analysis,
  • Perform field work or construction observation,
  • Perform writing assignments to contribute to project documentation and deliverables such as memos and reports,
  • Assist with quality control and assurance; and
  • Prepare permit applications and support materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering (or a related field),
  • 0-2 years of relevant civil engineering experience, EIT Certification
  • Demonstrated educational and relevant work experience showing strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills,
  • Related site/civil or municipal experience is highly desired,
  • Familiarity with elements of the design-bid-build process including engineering analysis, permitting, development of construction, documents (plans and specifications), cost estimating, and construction administration and observation,
  • Has ability to lead engineering designs independently and work with others for support,
  • Experience with AutoCAD (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred), and
  • Computer literate, knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
