West Oaks Hospital has provided psychiatric care to the Houston area and surrounding communities for over four decades. Our 176-bed acute care facility is fully accredited and included a 16-bed residential treatment center for adult chemical dependency. We offer a broad range of behavioral health programs for children, adolescents and adults. Treatment is offered at multiple levels of care including inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient.

We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist you and answer your questions about treatment options and insurance coverage. The hospital is easily accessible off the Southwest Freeway near the Galleria.

West Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals. The COO position has overall responsibility for operations at West Oaks Hospital and implements strategies of the CEO. Supports the goals and objectives of the hospital’s strategic plan, quality and value, financial resilience, physicians as partners, leadership, people and culture, and market differentiation and growth. In collaboration with department heads, plans, directs, and monitors business units, departments, service lines, or programs to ensure success. The COO has the responsibility to ensure that all elements of the strategic plan that affect operations are implemented and those strategic targets or outcomes are achieved to ensure the maximum success of the organization with limited supervision. 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Provides management to staff and leadership to the organization that aligns with the company’s business plan and overall strategic vision.
• Directs effective quality operations to maximize return on investment and community reputation. Increases revenues and income before inter-company allocations, maintains or decreases the effective bad debt rate, achieves the margin percentage, and implements operating cost controls in the areas of staffing, supplies, purchased services, etc.
• Develops and provides quality programs and service to the community. Manages and implements programs to ensure all employees are committed to quality and service.
• Manages and develops employees. Through appropriate management practices, creates a hospital climate to motivate employees to highest performance. Establishes direction, coaches employees, provides feedback, and builds commitment.
• Creates effective measurement tools to gauge the efficiency and effectiveness of internal and external processes.

Requirements:

• Education Required: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred in Business, Health Administration or other closely related field.
• Licensure and certification Required: None 
• Experience Required: Five (5) years of hospital experience with a minimum of  three (3) years as a senior level manager is required. A strong knowledge of JCAHO, Medicare, OSHA regulations, and patient rights standards and all applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.
